I think shows like Breaking Bad highlight the importance of having awesome actors, for example, even though Hanks season one character was a wanker, they developed him into a strong character and he had the acting chops to back it up, so when Hank and Walt confront over the knowledge of who Walt is, it's a strong and credible scene.
This is a bit like Homeland wrt quality actors, granted Danes is often OTT.

FUCK YEAH......I felt the episode was a bit slow but the ending made up for it, ie, a fully committed Heisenberg!!!

Now that the ending was decent, I can buy the whole thing on Bluray!!....I wasn't going to if they punked us, but I thought that was quite satisfactory.
I felt like they went too dramatic too early though, ie, episodes 13/14 felt more like the end, granted there was more to do, but nevertheless, an epic show.
I think the key here is good actors and writing depth, so that we can relate/care about the characters.

The problem is that the entire season sucked ass, and the ending just seemed lame as given the many other options that could've been explored.
I liked seasons....1/2*/3 and 7.....season 4 wasn't bad but seems like the fans overate it IMO.
