If someone wants some review fodder, please god, do a review on one of the abysmally terrible Silent Hill games, as I, for one, cannot understand how a game that is so completely inadequate in every measure can be popular amongst anybody. Given it's PS2 origins, however, maybe it's not such a big leap of logic; after all, these same people probably DID write Final Fantasy 10 fanfiction/erotic slash novels.
Face it: the game series is shit. After forcing myself to play through the entirety of Silent Hill 3 thanks to my friend forcibly giving me his PS2 in a fit of rage and boredom (one must wonder why he gave it to me with SH3 in the drive. Reaaally.), I resolved that I was so scared of the PS2 that I would never play any game on it again.
What was so horribly frightening?
THE FUCKING CAMERA ANGLES.
Excepting the nineteen thousand times I nearly slit my own throat from the asdysmal camera angles (which should be classified as a WMD by the amerikanskae government), I succesfully nearly got my eye poked out by the sharp-edged motherfucking polygons on only half as many occasions.
The horror elements, on the other hand, are about as horrorifying as the contents of my car's glove compartment (which incidently contains no gloves). Bog-standard industry cliches that're stolen from good horror movies (The Shining) and shit horror movies (The Ring) and somehow made even lamer than they've become in movies.

Don't lie, you were scared. I think you're just trying to cover up the fact that you had to go get your binky.
I haven't played any of the series, but it sounds to me like its scary so It must be, because everything I assume is true. Kind of like when Jean-Luc Picard says "make it so".... but different.

Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3 is more 'frightening' than the entire silent hill quadrilogy put together.
Incidently, Shalebridge Cradle is the only GOOD thing in all of Thief 3.
