For those who have not yet played Portal, it is available now for free on Steam (until 24 May 2010).

Probably, and also to draw attention to the fact that it is available on the Mac now. And Mac owners have already spent so much money on their vastly overpriced computers that they have no money left for buying games, so Valve made it free of charge.

I replayed it yesterday and today, this game is fun but really short. The first 17 levels are basically introductions to the last 2, but honestly I wouldn't have wanted it to continue much longer anyway, and it's lack of length is now more than compensated by the fact that it's free of course.

Performance on the mac seems to be less than perfect.

Also, it was originally part of the orange box, so it was short because you got 2 other games with it.

More like 4 other games. The Orange Box I have has HL2, HL2: Ep. 1, HL2: Ep. 2, TF2, and Portal

I wish they focused more on puzzles and less on timing. Some of the levels required you to fall off the ceiling then shoot a portal at a specific location. This probably drove away a lot of the 'Sudoku' crowd.

Agreed, I do not consider myself part of the Sudoku crowd but didn't like those puzzles that required quick reflexes and precise timing too much.

Maybe next time they could also leave out puzzles that require you to fall from such high ground that IRL you would be killed instantly.

Are you trying to tell me you liked these puzzles that required you to fire a portal whilst mid air at precisely the place where you would land?

I finished it twice too and never said it was a big deal, it was just mildly annoying.
