Weapons look better and their firerate and impact appear better as well.....this is critical in a run and gun shooter IMO.
It's got 50 times more objects in the world.
If the game is difficult and has proper prone and lean etc, and the phyx push my buttons, it might be good, however, I doubt any run and gun can ever be great unless it backs it up with full use of existing hardware, ie, Far Cry and FEAR.

I probably won't buy a new gaming PC for a good 12months, unless there's a slew of demanding titles released earlier.
I do have a 5xxx gfx card in my laptop I bought a few weeks ago HAHAHHAHAHAAAHAHAAAA

It was the sheer excitement of discussing my DX11 laptop that compelled me.
Textures look extremely low res. And contrary to what the trailer shows, expect to fight only a few enemies at a time. And I prefer the jungle to the concrete jungle
no it does not, but even if it did in the game you have only yourselfs to blame for crying "crysis does not run on my pc", "it has a high requirement!". the facial textures do look dated. also there is some amount video compression lossyness.

I meant compared to Crysis 1 they look bad. Crysis 1 was to computationally intractable, so it's not fair to compare the two. However, I still believe this wreaks of consolitus

I'm just going off of the whole consolitus trend. Instead of making gameplay more fun, designers keep making the graphics better at the expense of gampelay.

they have to make the graphics better because intel nvidia and asus are at the back with their whips telling them to make games that increase the selling of their stuff. i have to agree that the consoles have a good point there.
on the other hand graphics does not necessarily advance at the cost of gameplay. the two should coexist in some happy union.. they just don't have a single idea to make the game somewhat playable and/or think that a game is as good as it's graphics. or they think that we think this way.

I think market trends are fucking up games. Nvidia is one you mentioned, but massive corporations like EA pushing for profits is another (look what they did to Westwood studios). Reviewers are also to blame, they are pushing this whole online aspect (M$ charges for Xbox live). So on, so forth

Oblivion is a perfect example for a game series that's losing quality gameplay and story over good graphics. Morrowind was HUGE with lots of variety in terrain, buildings, weather, races... While Oblivion was just one big forest mostly. And every town was exactly the same. They left out a lots of skills and classes, hellofa lot of weapons, armor types and spells while everyone looked the same and sounded the same. Also the beast races look like any other human only with a tiger face. That's bullshit, in Morrowind their limbs, movements and pose were much more animalistic. Dark elves had cool voices like they smoke 4 packs of cigs a day, and looked better than the FAT face they have in oblivion (and actually were GRAY not baby blue. basically they looked like overpainted wood elves).
In Oblivion you wander in a big colourful forest with all the butterflies and bambi here and here, while in Morrowind you explored the ashlands and swamps, skills and magic was more extreme, you could fly, run like hell and jump miles away if you wanted to. Cities had their own architectural charasteristics according to what race populated them the most.
How can a sequel be more simple than the prequel?

not too much actually, that game was fairly good in it's own (mostly because of the graphics) but when compared to morrowind it fails miserably. if they weren"t related to each other being two members of a series, then it won't be such a bad thing.
but i think oblivion should've been come out first with the graphics of morrowind, then they should have released morrowind with the graphics of oblivion. then i wouldn't complain.
