by Anonymous on Friday, October 22 @ 12:37:04 EDT | Doom3 is not a direct remake of the original actually, it is set in a similar timeframe but the setting and storyline are both different between the two games. The original game is set on Phobos (not Mars as with Doom3) and your character has been stationed on Mars as punishment, and he's been there a while unlike the Doom3 marine who has only just arrived on Mars. The triggering event in the original game is the other moon, Deimos disappearing (pulled into Hell) rather than just odd goings on, as with Doom3.
Unfortunately, despite the advances in the FPS genre, the gameplay remains exactly the same, suffering from a lack of enemies and open areas due to the admittedly stunning but limiting graphics engine. |
