If you're a fan of the series, like RPG's and do not care much about other Mario games, it is safe to say you should not buy the Wii follow-up "Super Paper Mario".

This Wii version is basically a platformer (not an RPG by any definition). In addition, it is a 2D sidescroller to boot. That does make sense, given it is a paper world BTW, but there are already so much of those that you wonder why it was necessary to turn this game into one too. So basically if you liked the first 2 Paper Marios chances are you won't like this one. i for sure don't.

Some differences:

- You fight alone (no party to support you). You get accompanied by pixls now, which outside battle perform the tasks performed by the party in the previous games (like throwing stuff, placing bombs and giving hints), but the absence of a party in battle means you cannot use their special abilities (which takes away a lot of the tactics of the game).

- the controls are pretty awkward with the wiimote, this game needs a normal controller but does not support it.

- the badge system (i.e. the augmentation cannisters) is completely removed (and so have the tactics that came with it).

- the leveling-up system is a joke (only health and power can increase, and they increase automatically, you cannot choose what to level up, so much for the most important RPG-element);

- the battles are really simplified. They are no longer turn based, and basically all you do is jump on enemies, no need or option to perform special attacks or defences or use different attacks against different enemies.

The game still has some of the charm of the older games of the series, but that's small comform. I'm six hours in and keep wondering why on earth I should continue playing this game. I do not think I will.
