I found the Expansion to be more enjoyable than the original. The gameplay was faster, there was more open space and much more enemies to shotgun. Bad aspects are cheesy story where u get some artifact that u can charge with superpowers like time slowdown, invulnerability and some other power i haven't unlocked yet. U get powers once u beat one of 3 bosses. First boss which appears like 15 mins into the game so he gives u some time slowdown.

Enemies still spawn behind you but since there is so much more open space u have time to react. There is not much ammo around the game, so I have trouble shooting stuff, mostly I use the new weapon, the grabber. Yeah, the grabber is basicly gravity gun with some "improvements". It looks gay, it shoots this ray of light that has to grab the fireballs and small enemies. There is no backstory to you getting the grabber, you just sort of get it from a dead marine. Yeah, the grabber is sort of cool, too bad the only things he can pick up are few boxes and dumb flying heads.

Well, to sum it up, i did like the expansion more because there is much more action.

Although Doom III for xbox is much more fun because of the coop for DIII and old Dooms.
