Re: Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door (Score: 1) by berzerker on Tuesday, April 27 @ 20:11:06 EDT
OK, I decided to buy its predecessor (Paper Mario, which was released on the Nintento 64) too, I played it on the virtual console on the Wii with a gamecube controller.
That game is very similar to TTYD indeed, but IMHO all the little changes they made in TTYD are definitely improvements. In TTYD the paper effect is used much better (e.g. you can slip through fences, fly like a paper plane, sail like a paper boat), the game has more play time (I played PM1 in about half the time it took me to finish TTYD and did both games equally thorough), money is used better (e.g. you have to pay to rest somewhere), the end boss battle is more interesting, etc, but still PM1 is a good game, I'd give it an 8.
