Is there any easy way to share large numbers of high res photos over the net?

Facebook is the easiest, but they both shrink the picture to NTSC quality, and they don't let you download a single zip file (not that you'd want pictures that small).

Flickr only lets you view pictures up to 1020x768 resolution

Skydrive goes up to 1600x1200 but this isn't 1999 anymore.

I realize I could set up a server, but it's not something my parents and/or retarded friends can figure out how to use.

MSN messenger is the worst for this, it runs at 0.03 Kbs. I don't think it actually sets up a pipe between the two computers, instead it copies the file over to the microsoft server, which is meant for text transfer, then copies it to the host computer. Gate's must've programmed it himself back in 1991.

Spot on buddy. The 1 GB limit is a bit of a downer, but it's better than nothing

At this point, I almost wouldn't mind paying a little money but to get a simple photo sharing site with something closer to 20 Gb limit

Doesn't your internetprovider give you some disk space for a website?

If so then it would seem you could simply copy the photos there and provide a direct link to those photos by email to those you want to take a look.

If the number of links would be too much to put in an email or if the photo's change regularly, maybe you could put hyperlinks to them in a simple website (which does not need to contain more than links to those photos)?

Edit: while I was typing you added you need multiple gigabytes, so the above may not be sufficient then. Who do you expect to download gigabytes of your photos anyway?

Well lets say you go on vacation, meet a bunch of people, and then come back and they put all those pictures on facebook. Now if you want high res versions of those pictures what do you do? If there are 300 pictures, 1 MB+ each, they can't e-mail those.

I tried using msn but the transfer rate is so slow

ftp is the most efficient option, but lets face it, port forwarding is too difficult for many people (I still can't get it to work for my laptop ever since I got a new ISP)

I wouldn't pay money for that, unless it was under four pennies per picture.

What I meant was $20 a year for web space with an easy interface which lets you select folders, and it uploads it and provides a zip file for the entire high res photos.
