I think the key is buying them off ebay, unless they're the calibre of HL2 etc, for ex, I only paid $24 for BIA HH and that included delivery, and unless the game is utter crap, I don't think it's such an unreasonable outlay for 7-10hrs of gameplay......x2 if you like it and replay it.
I spend $21 on seafood pizza's from time to time, and they only entertain me for a good 10 mins.

I paid $50 for Prince of Persia, and that still wasn't motivation enough for me to finish it. Some of these games are so terrible that the human mind simply can not comprehend it.
