Yeah, 22 new accounts yesterday, again a new record. Evidently this new captcha-cracking software has been distributed and used widely now.
Maybe as a temporary measure you could disable the creation of new accounts? These spammers seem to use accounts only once, so that would put an end to this.
Anyone who really needs an account could send you a PM in the meantime.

I have access to the admin section of the forums now, however, I'm not seeing anything to disable account creation...however, the accounts for the forum and the website are all linked.

For the stats: 36 new members yesterday, 22 today up till now.
Almost all spam comes in the free-for-all forum, I'm not sure why. Maybe they default to the last forum on a site, because that is usually the most generic one? If so, you could add a new forum just for the spammers, and autodelete every post there.
