"First of all, where are the guns? How did this game score higher than great games like Modern Warfare 3 without even having guns or multiplayer? The only redeeming thing about the combat is that it is good using a console controller.

The world is way too vast and there is way too much to do. A focused game will show you exactly where to go to advance the story and beat the game. In this game, there are like 1,000 quests to do and no required order in which to do them. This confuses me and gives me headaches. I have to think too much about what to do. There is too much freedom of choice regarding what you can do in the game and I cannot decide what to do so I end up doing nothing and putting the controller down.

The world is also too detailed. You can pick up or investigate almost every object. You have to learn how to enchant weapons and clothes and how to use magic and shouts. If I wanted to do homework I would go to school, not play videogames.

Speaking of homework, there are books ALL OVER the world, and each one is filled with information and lore. Again, if I wanted to read, I would not be playing a video game. Keep reading out of my videogames. Just give me a gun and show me what to shoot. Simple. No Headaches and no confusing decisions.

There is no multiplayer either. Every great game has multiplayer now, seriously how did you miss that? Where is my 10 vs. 10 team based combat? If you had a smaller map then this would be perfect.

I really do not see how this game can be rated higher than Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty is a series that innovates with each game released -- MW3 proves that the series is giving us new gameplay rather than the same thing over and over. Skyrim feels like the same game only re-modeled.

UPDATE:
After playing through a small quest for the Harry Potter people mages wizards or whatever they are called I think the main problem is the fact that they are making quests too tedious and difficult and confusing.

I had to read 3 books to understand the background for the quest. THREE. Even though they are only like 2 pages each that still feels too much like school to me. KEEP READING OUTTA MY VIDEOGAMES!

I know they can put guns in this game. Some hobbit or dwarf can invent a gun or a crossbow or something cool like that, not this Lord of the Rings Hoho Baggins type swords or whatever and Gandalf wizard staffs. Guns make you feel like a man.

And instead of making me walk for 5 hours through some big open world why not put the game on rails to make things go smoother and quicker? Basically all these things have been accomplished by Call of Duty which is why they are selling better. Imagine if Modern Warfare 3 made you read *********ing books. Yea that would be instant 2/10. I can't even read my homework much less videogame books. At least have someone read them aloud to me.

All I am saying is that if they put the game on rails so that you can only go towards the objective that advances the story things would be much less confusing. Also I have like 100 quests in my list that I still have to do. That is way too many and I am getting confused trying to understand which ones to do first. I cannot even organize 4 things much less 100. If I wanted to read or do work I would get a job.

Dragon Age 2 was so much better than this game. It only too me like 10 hours and I only had to navigate one small city the whole game instead of like 50. That is way to complicated and confusing for a videogame. Hopefully The Elder Scrolls VI follows in the footsteps of Dragon Age 2 by keeping to one location, eliminating all races except humans for the player character, introducing guns or at least crossbows, and making it so you can only move in directions that advance the story which is the goal of a game in the first place. They should also look into recycling locations because in DA2 that made it much easier for me to know where to go. I did not have to figure out where everything was in each house or town or cave like in Skyrim because every house is the same in DA2. Much less headaches that way."

Sarcasm probably: it seems unlikely that someone who does not want to read anything would take the trouble to write an article of this length.

The part at the end about Dragon Age 2 really ties everything together

Games like these can make you feel overwhelmed if look at all those quests and reading material and stuff, but it's only because we are used to linearity and completionism. Or taking the story secondary, just for a few bonus achievements or concep art.
But this one (and Morrowind, Oblivion also) is the type that offers you a chance to make a different approach. Here we can just forget everything and enjoy stepping into a new breathing world and just be ourselfs in it. Why should I read a book from the shelf? Should I? Am I curious about it's contents? Well in case I am, I can do that also. They are not just for the decoration. The game offers me this also.
There are not too much to do.. since you don't have to do everything. But since there are a lot of options and routes, you can finally forget your role... and just be yourself.
Aren't you interested where would that take you?

I maxed out everything in Morrowind, every stat, got every items, been in every cave... took me crazy amount of time. And after that, I realized I just missed the fun. What I did was hard work. For a few stat points.

These type of games, fully explorable open worlds with quests are some of the best ever made, they make playing normal non tactical shooters seem so lifeless and monotonous.
