In the map screen, you can enter the black tarot board screen, which will allow you to equip any tarot cards you have unlocked. Tarot cards cost money to place on this board, or 'equip'. This money can be collected in the game's levels, and comes in the form of coins and artifacts. There are two types of cards. Silver cards add permanent bonuses that are always active whenever you play. Gold cards must be activated in game, by default the 'E' key, and will last a certain amount of time before their effects wear away. You can equip 2 silver cards, which are located along the top of the board, and you can equip 3 gold cards, which are located along the bottom. Some things you might not know about the cards are: -They are transferable between games. Meaning after you beat the game and start a new game, you have the option of retaining all the cards you have already earned. You can still retain your cards if you choose to play Daydream mode, you just can't use them. -On insomnia mode, you can only earn 22 of the cards, in nightmare mode you can earn 23 cards, and on trauma mode, you can earn all 24 of the cards. This is because certain levels are locked on lesser difficulty levels. -You can open the trauma difficulty level by collecting 23 cards. -If you equip two cards that modify the same thing, the game will not add both of their effects, it will only take the highest card. For example, by equipping both the forgiveness and mercy card, you can't use gold cards 5 times, you can only use them 3 times, since mercy is the higher card of the two. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX =3= General Tips For Acquiring Cards XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX -The stats screen, by default the TAB key, is your god. Use it to check the requirements for the card, and how many of the requirements you may have completed so far. -An enemy or object destroyed by ANY MEANS will count on your stats screen. If an enemy dies by falling, explodes himself, gets killed by another enemy or gets killed by you, it will always count as a kill. Likewise if an object is destroyed by an enemy, blows up on its own, or you smash it, it will count towards your objects destroyed score. -If you open the exit for a level, all doors in the level become unlocked, allowing you to backtrack, and, in *MOST* cases, find anything you may have missed. There are exceptions like the two levels where you must kill all enemies, in which you have to kill all the enemies as you go, you won't be able to go back and kill them if you go to far past them and/or open the exit before killing them. -Try and get the card on your own before you resort to using a guide. Part of the fun is actually trying yourself and not just reading instructions on how you should be doing it. You should only use this guide when you actually get angry at the game, like when you can't find the last secret out of 6 and you've been playing the level for 2 hours =) -If you don't know what bunnyhopping is, its basically strafing from side to side and moving your mouse so that you move very fast and hop around like a rabbit. Painkiller dumbed down the technique heavily, so that theres not even any strafing involved, and anyone can use it. Instead of strafing, all you do is hold down forward, and keep jumping. As soon as you land, jump again. Then repeat. You'll notice you'll start to move very fast. You can use this technique to clear large gaps, outrun enemies, etc. -On the boss levels where you have to beat them under a certain time limit, you should equip gold cards to deal maximum damage. Don't equip any of the speed reducing cards, as these are defensive and will waste your time. Fury, Rage, Dexterity, either of the time bonus cards and Forgiveness or Mercy will all help out greatly. Don't forget that when equipping two cards that modify something, the game only takes the highest card, so equipping both fury and rage is really just wasting a gold card spot. My favorite combo for damage is the silver mercy card, and dexterity, rage and double time bonus gold cards. -Multijumping is basically hitting the jump key over and over to gradually scale an area that you usually wouldn't be able to climb by simply holding forward. It usually works best in corners or on steep surfaces. -Someone E-mailed me this tip. Using the painkiller's secondary fire, with a direct hit you can sometimes knock an enemy into the air. If you keep scoring direct hits, you can juggle him in the air. Every 4 times you hit him with the painkiller secondary fire he will drop a jewel worth 15 gold. The extra gold will appear as grey numbers beside the gold count for the level. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX =4= LEVEL SPECIFIC CARD LIST XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Level 1-1: Cemetery Objective: Beat the level Card: Endurance [Gold] [Halves damage taken] Hardest card in the game to get! Level 1-2: Atrium Complex Objective: Destroy all the objects Card: Haste [Gold] [Game speed is 2x slower] A nice, easy card to acquire. The way I like to do this is beat the level normally, by killing all the monsters and opening the exit. All the doors in the level will be unlocked, so you can go back and systematically search for anything you forgot to destroy. Most will be out in the open, barrels mainly, but in case you are having trouble I will tell you of the more obscure locations for objects. There is a statue of a man spreading his arms, with a floating health in front of it. This is in the 2nd last room before the exit. Behind the statue there is a chest you need to destroy. There are also many rooms on the ground floor with chests inside, so walk a perimeter around the rooms looking for them. There is a room near the beginning which is connected to a spiral staircase, with burning lamps above it. Hopefully you can understand where I'm talking about ><. There is a door in this room that leads up to a secret area, where there is a small chest and a huge one. The huge needs to be broken too, it will take a bit more damage to smash. The final spot you could have missed is in the 2nd clearing, or room with no ceiling. This room has a staircase leading to the second floor balcony or whatever you would call it. There are also rooms up here with chests and barrels, so go up and make sure you take every route. Basically this level just takes time, as you will need to check every area for every little barrel or chest to destroy. Level 1-3: Catacombs Objective: Defeat 112/112 monsters Card: Soul Keeper [Silver] [Enemy souls last longer before they fade away] Note: You have to kill the optional monsters the first time you get there. If you proceed past them to the next checkpoint, and a door locks behind you, you won't be able to go back to kill them, so make sure you get them on your first pass through! In this level you need to kill every monster, which can be kind of tricky. 106 of the 112 monsters in this level have to be killed in order to beat the level. The other 6 are not required to be killed in order to beat the level. By the way, the kamikazee zombies with the barrels of explosives will count as a kill whether you kill them or they detonate themselves, so don't worry about that. Now, the 6 monsters you will need to kill are all zombie warriors. After crossing the bridge where the zombie vamps were throwing knives at you, there will be a fork in the road. The 2nd checkpoint appears on the left path. Before you go down the left path, go into the room on the right. You will fight 4 zombie warriors. The other 2 zombie warriors are right after checkpoint 5. Another fork in the road, and you have to take the right path again. This time you will be led down a passage to a coffin, where 2 zombie warriors will jump out of the ground. The rest of the level is killing required monsters, so if you need even more help go find a walkthrough. Level 1-4: Cathedral Objective: Get at least 500 gold Card: Time Bonus [Gold] [Gold cards last 10 seconds longer] This card isn't too hard to get. Keep your eye out for vases, coffins, etc. Even exploding barrels drop pieces of gold. Just make sure you grab it in time because gold dissapears quickly. Someone E-mailed me a tip on getting extra gold from juggling enemies, you can read about it under the general tips section. Right now I don't believe that the extra gold you can get will count for the 500 needed, but I haven't tested this yet, so if anyone knows, please E-mail me. Level 1-5: Enclave Objective: Beat Necrogiant in less than 2:00 Card: Blessing [Silver] [Increases inital health to 150] This one is a pain. I beat it by equipping gold cards Fury, Dexterity and Time Bonus. Keep firing at him with the shotgun (if you don't have it yet come back to get the card after you acquire it). As you fire at him, run towards the center of the map. There is health and shotgun ammo here. I used the golden cards near the end and they raped necrogiant, but it took a few tries because he uses a very gay tornado attack which is hard to dodge. UPDATE: Necrogiant will use the tornado attack after his chains are broken, so you should save at least 1 gold card for when the chains break, and either equip cards for max damage to finish him off quick, or come back when you have iron will, so that the tornado/meteor combo won't kill you. Level 2-1: Prison Objective: Don't use any explosive weapons Card: Replenish [Silver] [All ammo boxes give 2x what they normally do] Well this wasn't too hard, just dodge all the bullets coming at you and watch out for those lame sentry turrets which will kill you in a few hits. Every enemy on this level can be killed with one hit if you nail them with the painkiller secondary fire, I can't remember using my shotgun once. Level 2-2: Opera House Objective: Collect at least 100 souls Card: Speed [Gold] [Move Faster] This level isn't terribly hard but my health got pretty low at some points. All you have to do is make sure you grab the souls after you kill the monsters. Try and kill them in ways that make their corpses end up close to you bu taking advantage of the physics engine. For example, when you are fighting ninjas on the scaffold thing, dont shotgun blast them over the side. Instead ram into them with the painkiller, or try and knock them against walls. If you're having trouble with this map, equip Soul Keeper or even better, Soul Catcher, which sucks souls in towards you. Level 2-3: Asylum Objective: Beat the level using only the painkiller Card: Fury [Gold] [Deal 2x Damage] This level is incredibly easy as long as you don't forget to ONLY use the painkiller. The enemies are all very slow moving, aside from the amputees' leaping attacks, which you can avoid. By now I hope you know about the Painkiller's combo fire, the instruction manual even tells you how to use it. Hold down primary fire to open the blades, while they are spinning press secondary fire to launch the warhead. Instead of flying like a spearhead it will fly with the blades open and continously spinning, until you call it back. This works wonders on gibbing enemies into mush, not just on this level but on any enemy. Level 2-4: Snowy Bridge Objective: Find 6/6 secret areas Card: Dark Soul [Silver] [Demon morph occurs with every 50 souls] 1ST: When you jump from the stairs onto the large pipe close to the beginning of the level, stay on the pipe and follow it over to the fence. There will be some boxes in the back, and you will be able to get in through the opening in the fence. 2ND: There are two towers in the middle of the bridge. One you have to climb up to beat the level, but the other one will be locked until later. Once you get into this tower, there is a central support column in the middle, which should have holy items on it, if I remember correctly. Jump onto this for secret #2. 3RD: This secret is also near the two towers in the middle of the bridge. At the top, in between the entrance to each tower, there is a ladder leading up to the suspension cables for the bridge. It will be segmented into 3 pieces. Climb up the first segment only. There will be a slanted ledge jutting out of the side of the tower. You have to keep jumping along this ledge to get to the back of the tower for secret #3. 4TH: This one is in the loading bay, the side with the 2 massive cranes. There is a very long L-shaped passageway you have to walk through, you know the one that the box falls on and crushes? Well behind this L-shaped section there is an equally long back alley. You can get in from either end of the L-shaped section, just look for an opening where it meets the wall. 5TH: This one is right after the long hall you get sucked through. Before taking the tram, climb the ladder part way, then jump from the ladder onto the top of the fence. Look over the side, there will be another ladder. Jump off onto this ladder and climb down to get secret #5 6TH: After taking the cable car to the other side, climb up the ladder and walk around to the back of the building. Level 2-5: Town Objective: Beat the level using only stakes Card: Double Haste [Gold] [Game speed is 4x slower] Beat the level only using STAKES not the STAKEGUN. No grenades allowed, no other weapons allowed, just stakes. Thankfully, there are stakes everywhere in this level, plus it is, imo, one of the sickest levels in the game. Not too hard to beat, dodge all the items being thrown at you. There are a few leper monks in this level, 3 I believe. No big deal, a few stakes will kill them. The hardest part is trying to knock the witches out of the air with stakes, but it just takes a few tries. Level 2-6: Swamp Objective: Beat swamp dude in under 4 minutes Card: Dexterity [Gold] [Weapons reload 2x faster] I don't know what to say about this boss. The first time I beat him I got the cheat (thankfully) with a time of 3:57. Close I know =). Just go through the normal routine with him, and when his 'shield' so to speak, is down, use your gold cards (equip as many for damage as possible) and go wild on him with the shotgun. Kill him in time and you get a very nice card, Dexterity. Level 3-1: Train Station Objective: Beat the level without collecting any souls Card: Soul Catcher [Silver] [Sucks souls towards you] This level is really crazy. While the level is not terribly difficult, the requirements for getting the card are. You can't collect any souls, in a level where whole platoons of Skeleton Soldiers and Sados are coming at you. Your best bet is to use manual saves after each wave, while keeping an eye on the souls caught counter, it's on the top right. This should stay at zero through the whole map. If it goes any higher, you'll fail, so reload a manual save or die and return at a checkpoint. If you beat this, you will get a sick silver card, which sucks souls in towards you. This is one of the most useful cards you can have for collecting souls. Level 3-2: Abondoned Factory Objective: Kill at least 30 enemies while in demon morph mode Card: Forgiveness [Silver] [You can use golden cards twice per level] You need to get 30 kills in one demon morph, your kills won't add up. The best way to get 30 kills is at the end of the level. You should save up 65 souls and get to the last area where all the skeleton soldiers keep spawning. Bunnyhop around, letting them chase you. Then when you get a large enough group, kill only one of them, collect the soul and morph. Now gib as many of them as possible. Save the game before trying this just in case you don't make enough kills, that way you can try again. It's also important not to wait too long to transform since the Maso Commandos will be lobbing grenades at you and probably hitting the skeleton soldiers too. After you take out the group that was chasing you, head to where the skeleton soldiers spawn, and take out as many as possible before the demon morph wears off. You can also check your stats screen just before you start the fight, so that after your demon morph wears off, you can look at it again to see if you killed enough enemies. Level 3-3: Military Base Objective: Kill all enemies Card: Greed [Silver] [Doubles amount of gold gained] NOTE: You have to make all the optional kills before opening the exit, or else you won't be able to get the card. There are 5 optional kill zones you need to do before you can get all the kills in this level. The first is on a large airplane in the first half of the base. It will have a health floating in the middle inside. Go up to it and 10 skeleton soldiers should appear inside the plane with you. The next 3 places are just beside the plane, 3 lodgings, they will have a lot of windows on them, hard to miss. Go in the back of each one and fight the guys that appear. The final optional area is after the huge battle in the second half of the base, the one with all the tanks and mortars firing on you. There is a building in the far back, with what looks like gas tanks enclosed by steel X's on them. Go in the door here, kill everyone inside this area, then jump over the side, and finish the rest of the level. Level 3-4: Ruins Objective: Kill Guardian in under 1 minute 20 seconds. Card: Iron Will [Gold] [Enemies can't hurt you] This card was pretty rough to achieve. I had to use dexterity, fury and time bonus gold cards, along with the mercy silver card, and the fastest time I could get was 1:19, but that might because of the massive slowdown from my crappy video card. At the start of this level there is chaingun ammo by the pillars to your left, as well as some shotgun ammo. I kept using my gold cards and used the shotgun on the hammer until I ran out of ammo, then switched to chaingun and used that. After the hammer was destroyed, I kept firing with the chaingun until he died. All you have to do is time your jumps right, dodge the hammer, and keep firing on him as much of the time as possible, while activating your gold cards over and over. Hopefully you will beat him in time. Level 4-1: Castle Objective: Find 7/7 Holy Items Card: Rage [Gold] [Deal 4x Damage] This level's card requirements are extremely gay. To get the holy items you need to do jumping puzzles, some of which are so pathetically lame it made me want to take out the cd and snap it in two. Be prepared... Holy Items #1 #2 and #3: On the right side of the bridge at the start, there is a ladder which is difficult to see. Go down the ladder, and jump over to your right into the little arch. There is another arch beside this one, jump off the side and then as you start to fall turn back and you will be able to jump into this arch. Now do the same thing for the next arch. There are 3 holy items under the bridge, once you have them, jump back to the first arch then jump onto the ladder and climb up the bridge. Holy Item #4: After opening the exit there is a shack with a little window opposite the wooden execution stand. The door will be unlocked once you open the level exit, and a holy item will be waiting for you inside. Holy Items #5 and #6: The same shack mentioned in the directions for holy item #4 has a sloped roof. Jump up the side of the one shack and up onto the other shack. Keep jumping up to the top, you will be able to see holy items #5 and #6 from the top of the shack, but it will seem like you can't jump up to grab them. I am not sure if I obtained these 2 items the right way, since I think this jump is rediculously dumb, but I'll try and explain to you how to do it. Stand in the top left corner, where the castle wall meets the shack. Face forward, towards the items. Now turn about 45 degrees to the right. Hold forward and try and multijump up the face of this wall. This may take a LOT of tries, but you will eventually get up and claim the 2 holy items. If someone knows a better method of getting these 2 items please tell me, because the way I did it really looks like its a glitch and not meant to be done. UPDATE: You can drop off the castle roof to get these two holy items as well. Read the instructions for item #7 on how to get onto the roof. Holy Item #7: This is the gayest jumping problem in the game. There's a large tower with a ballista at the top. You'll find it if you explore long enough. Once you're at the top, jump onto the bricks that run along the edge of this tower, then jump from the bricks onto the castle roof. The jump will look impossible but if you strafe jump into it you will be able to make it. Just so you know what a strafe jump is, look at the spot where you want to jump, turn roughly 45 degrees left or right, then hold forward and whichever strafe key takes you towards where you are trying to get to, and jump. Once on the castle's roof look down over the edge towards the bridge you started the level on. See that shiny thing up in the tower? Strafe jump onto the tower to claim the last item, then get the hell out of the level and pray to god you never have to get this card again. UPDATE: Credits go to Oblivion for telling me about a much easier method using bunnyhopping. This jumping problem is not as hard as I assumed it to be. While the strafe jump method will still work, I don't recommend it since it is a huge pain in the ass. First, find the one part of the tower wall that is closest to the castle roof, the part that is lower than the others. You're going to need to jump through the gap to either side of this section. Bunnyhop in a circle around the ballista to pick up speed. When you're going reasonably fast, jump through the gap on either side. You will be able to clear the wall of the tower and land on the roof. Even if you nudged the wall, you will still probably be going fast enough to make it onto the roof anyways. Now bunnyhop from the roof down onto the tower at the start for the 7th holy item. Level 4-2: The Palace Objective: Defeat the level without using any armor Card: Vitality [Silver] [Increases base health to 150] Not very hard to get. Just make sure you don't accidentally grab any armor =) Level 4-3: Babel Objective: Pick up every ammo box in the level. Card: Double Time [Gold] [Gold cards last 20 seconds longer] I really hate these scavenger hunt style challenges. Chances are you have gotten 94/95 of the ammo boxes, and you're looking for the one that you missed, so I'll tell you where this secret one is before I do the rest. At the second to last checkpoint, the floor starts collapsing as you run across it. You will run up a stone slab through an opening to the next floor. Now turn around and go back in the same direction on this floor, past the hole you just came out of with the wooden boards jutting out from the sides. There will be one of those walls with the insets and doors, and chances are you will spot something shiny up near the top of it. Look for a part of this wall that has bricks jutting out. Yeah, you guessed it, it's a ladder. Climb up to get a holy item and the hidden ammo. UPDATE: While it's still easier to do on your first time through, I made a mistake in saying that it is not possible to get back up here. I got an e-mail informing me that indeed you can get back up here after you've gone through it once. After the floor has collapsed, you can jump on whats left along the edge, to get to solid ground. Then take a ladder up the wall to get up to the part where the hole is with the boards of wood jutting out. Now just climb up the ladder as described up above to claim the ammo. There is another secret you might have missed, although it is much more obvious. At the checkpoint just before the columns in the roof which try and crush you, you can jump over the wall to the left. Then keep bunnyhopping around until you eventually make your way to the other side of the tower. There will be ammo boxes along the sides here, as well as a huge cache at the wall at the end. Once you're done grabbing all this ammo, there is a ladder going up the wall so that you don't have to bunnyhop your way back, you can just climb over the wall and fall back to where you were. If you're still missing ammo even after these 2 secret areas, then I made a full list of the ammo locations here. I suggest you print it off, keep track of what checkpoint you are on, and check off the ammo that you grab. I divided the level into 'areas' to make it easier for me, and for you. First Area: This area is before the first checkpoint, and includes the first courtyard and the broken building. 3 Stake boxes to the right of the broken building. *This will look like two stakes but it counts as 3 on the stats screen. My guess is that the level designer dropped 2 stake boxes directly on top of each other by accident* 3 Shotgun shells by the wall to the left, by the level's starting point. 2 Rocket boxes on the right side, in a corner beside a broken wall. 3 Rocket boxes in another corner on the right side, close to the stairs leading to the top of the broken building. 3 Chaingun boxes in a dark alley which is close to the stairs on the left side which leads to the top of the broken building. Second Area: This area is the room just after the 1st checkpoint. It is a wooden barn on top of the broken building. 8 Shuruken boxes are in the room, but on the left side it will look like theres only 3 boxes, when there is 4. This level is messed up... Third Area: This area is right after the 2nd checkpoint, and includes the staircase leading up and the secret area to the left. 2 Rocket boxes, one on each side at the top of the stairs. Along the side of the path leading to the secret cache of goodies, there are: 2 Shotgun shells 3 Stake boxes 2 Chaingun boxes 2 Freezer packs 2 Rocket Boxes The secret weapons cache contains: 3 Rocket boxes 4 Shotgun shells 4 Electricity packs 3 Mega-Packs Fourth Area: This is at the 3rd checkpoint, and includes the large spiral staircase leading up, which you get to right after the crushing columns, and the large area it leads up to 1 Freezer ammo at the bottom of the stairs 3 Shotgun shells at the bottom of the stairs 6 Shotgun shells at the center of the room at the top of the spiral staircase 3 Grenades at the center of the room at the top of the spiral staircase Fifth Area: This area is after climbing the 2 staircases leading up in a curve, right at the 4th checkpoint. 2 Stake boxes in behind of the 4th checkpoint 3 Chaingun boxes in behind of the 4th checkpoint 2 Shotgun shells in behind of the 4th checkpoint Sixth Area: This area is after the 5th checkpoint and is the falling floor part. You should also be able to get the secret ammo here, which is 1 mega-pack. Seventh Area: This area is right after getting past the falling floor. It is the 6th checkpoint, when you enter the top of the tower. It includes the top level of the tower, the middle level, and the floor on the bottom where the exit appears. Ammo on top floor: 2 shotgun shells 2 freezer ammo Ammo on bottom floor (all of these are hidden under the staircase): 2 Chaingun boxes 3 Shuruken boxes 6 Shotgun shells Ammo on the middle floor (you can get here by falling from the top level, or, after opening the exit there is a staircase that will lead here): 3 Rocket boxes 4 Chaingun boxes 3 Shotgun shells That is all 95/95 locations. Good Luck. Level 4-4: Forest Objective: Finish the level without using black tarot cards Card: Divine Intervention [Silver] [All cards can be placed for free] Well good luck on this one, I ended it with like 3 health 0 armor. Note that you have to unequip all your silver cards before you start this level, or you will automatically fail it. I suggest you unequip your gold cards too, so you're not tempted to use them. After you're done you can use the Divine Intervention card to equip most of them for free anyways. At the start, use your shotgun to blast the bones and vampires. Dodge the fireballs and the chunks of flesh that the vampires throw at you. There is an armor in the middle to help you out. After the bones and vampires are dead, take down the witches with whatever ammo you have leftover. The shotgun will work when they get close, or you can use stakes. I didn't have as much luck with the chaingun though. Grab all the ammo that you can when the area is clear. Now in the next part, the gates will close and you will have to fight some bones and 2 witches. You can kill all the bones with a rocket blast before they form, then take out the witches, I used the shotgun for this. The next part is the hardest. This area is much smaller than the first, and again you are fighting vampires, bones and witches. Grab the demon head thing, it increases your damage. I basically tried to stay over by the boarded up hill place, on the left side. I stood up there dodging fireballs and bits of flesh, and firing rockets and shotgun blasts at the bones and vamps. After they died, I ran down and killed the witches with stakes. After this part, more witches will come and there will be these two armored bald guys you have to fight. They can throw fireballs just like the witches, so be careful to dodge. The armored bald guys' weak spot is their head, at least I'm pretty sure. I fired stakes at them and they bounced off the armor, but when I fired at the head I got a blood spurt, so I'm just assuming that's where you should be aiming =). After killing them, concentrate on the last 2 witches. The exit will open up in the back, and you will get the last card in the game. Level 4-5: The Tower Objective: Kill Alastor in under 5 minutes Card: Triple Haste [Gold] [The world moves 8x slower] The first time I beat this I ended up with a time of 2:39, so I don't think it should be too hard to get for anyone else. Make good use of your gold cards, equip them all for max damage, and use them at the best time. I used dexterity, fury and time bonus, and activated half way through the battle. At the start of the fight make sure you bunny hop the perimeter of the circle, grabbing as much chain gun ammo as possible, and the armor too. I found the chaingun and shotgun worked best. When you fall to the next floor, there will be a health boost, find it and stay close to Alastor, nailing him with the shotgun. On the next floor I activated my gold cards and attacked with the chain gun and fired a few rockets. Once falling to the ground floor, I again used the chaingun/rocket launcher combo to bring down his health. The next part is critical, your gold cards should be nearly used up, quickly chain gun as many statues as possible, I had 2 left. Alastor will attack again. If you are out of chaingun ammo then fire rockets into him until he attempts to recharge. Now finish the last statues as quickly as possible and kill Alastor. If you run low on health on the ground floor, there are health powerups along the outer rim of the ground floor. Again, getting this card is not too difficult, I beat him with half the required time left to spare, so I doubt it should be a real problem. UPDATE: After having trouble killing Alastor on Trauma mode, I equipped the Iron Will card and fought him. I can not tell you how much easier the battle becomes from this. When you activate the card before you fall, you won't take any damage from the fall, or from Alastor. Completely awesome =) Level 5-1: City On Water Objective: Find 6/6 Hidden Areas Card: Last Breath [Silver] [Health regeneration when you're dying] Secret #1: At the beginning of the level there are wooden crates all around you, and there is a large crate in the center. Use the rocket launcher to shoot at the corner of this crate. The corner you want to be shooting is farthest away from the building in front of you, and closest to the right side of the building. I hope you understood that ><. Basically, it's in the back-right end of the box. As you shoot it you should notice something will start protruding from the edge of the box. This is a boosting platform type of thing, and you will be able to get boosted really high into the air, by getting up close to the box. You want to boost up into the top of the tower that's in front of you. You will need to bunny hop to get enough speed, then land on the edge of the boost pad and you will hopefully have enough speed to get to the top of the tower without falling short. This may take a few tries though, so be prepared. Secret#2: Near the beginning there is a long bridge which you cross. Right after crossing the bridge, turn 90 degrees to your right. There will be a smaller bridge close to you. Cross this bridge, then turn left and go around the corner. Pay attention to the wall on your right, there will be an open section. Jump in. Secret #3: After crossing the long bridge, turn 90 degrees to the right again, doing the same thing as in Secret #2. Now look to the building on the left. You need to jump over the edge where the building meets the water. The secret is behind the building. You will need to jump, then turn back in towards the building to make it. Secret #4: This secret is behind the last building of the level. Walk over to the side, jump onto the ledge and take it around back for secret #3. Secret #5: The water fountain has a door in it, go down the stairs and get the holy item. Secret #6: A few people have claimed that this secret was one of the hardest to get in the game, but I got it on my 3rd try, so you be the judge. It requires a lot of jumping, so get ready to reload the game a few times. This will be kind of hard to describe, but here goes... The first thing you need to do is get to the area with all the glass display cases. In this area there are 2 doors with a tiny bunch of steps leading up to them, they are bridges. If you look out the window beside one, you will be able to see the long covered bridge from the start of the level. This is NOT the bridge you want, go find the other door with little steps leading up to it. This door should have 2 windows to the right, and a wall to the left of it. You need to jump out the window to the right, landing on the tiny ledge jutting out, and then jump over to the railing of the balcony on the other side. You have to keep continously jumping to stay on the ledge and get over the window sills. When you get to the corner where the bridge meets the other building, you need to keep jumping and eventually you will be able to get to the top of the bridge, it just takes a while. Now you should be on top of the bridge. The next step is to get onto the building with the red stone tiles. To do this, stand at either edge of the top of the bridge, the part that is higher than the rest on either side. Stand as far back as possible from the building with the red stone roof. You need to do a quick bunnyhop to get up onto the roof of the building. Just jump once, landing roughly in the middle of the bridge, then jump again and you will just nail the edge of the building with the red roof. Now you're up top of this building. Now that you're on top of the building with the red roof, walk to the other side, the side opposite to the one you're on. Carefully walk down to the edge of the building, the flat part. You should be up in front of the church now. To the left of the church are a bunch of balconies. Here is the final and most difficult step. You need to get a bunnyhop started on the edge of the building, heading towards the left side of the church. You need to jump, clearing the corner and landing on a ledge with some angels behind it. Keep jumping from ledge to ledge until you reach the building with the balcony. You need to land in the top balcony, and get the holy item for secret #6. Note that you have to keep jumping up and down on the ledges, or else you will fall. The real trick to landing this last jump is timing your bunnyhop. You need to get a good speed going, and on your final hop you need to land right at the very edge of the building, or else your jump will fall short, you will land in the water, and die. The next tricky part after actually landing the jump is staying on the ledges to get to the secret area. Be prepared to reload the game a few times, maybe a few hundred, depending on how lucky you are and your skill at jumping. Level 5-2: Docks Objective: Morph into demon hunter mode 3 times Card: Confusion [Gold] [Confuse Enemies] You can probably get this card on your first time through if you have Soul Catcher equipped. Just collect as many souls as possible, each demon hunter morph takes 66, so in total you need 198 souls to get the card. To make this level even easier you can equip the dark soul card, allowing you to morph every 50 kills, for a total of 150 souls to unlock the card. Level 5-3: Old Monastery Objective: Stay above 50 health throughout the level Card: Soul Redeemer [Silver] [Souls give more health] Dodge all the explosives and the lightning bolts, and collect souls to keep your life up. I'll go into more detail after i play this level over a few times, since it was confusing. Level 5-4: Hell Objective: Kill Lucifer Card: Mercy [Silver] [You can use golden cards three times per level] All you need to do for this is kill Lucifer. Obviously it's not a terribly hard card to get, as long as you know how to beat him.
